Cascade Public Schools Celebrate Senior Wrestlers
Cascade Public Schools celebrated its senior wrestling team Thursday night as several schools participated in a wrestling mixer in the North Gym. Seniors were presented to the fans at the beginning of the event, escorted to mid-court by their families. The seniors honored were Aaron Sawyer, Edward Formell, Hal McGregor, Izaak Munski, Madasyn Faldzinski, and Nordika Göetze.
Aaron Sawyer
Aaron has wrestled for 13 years. His coach shared, "All I can do is think about Aaron and laugh. I don't think he's ever had a bad day. He would jump up three weight classes to fill a spot if we needed him or lose 10 pounds to do the same."
Eddie Formell
Eddie has wrestled for three years and remembers winning his first match as his proudest achievement. His coach praised him: "He is one of the hardest workers in the room. He doesn't shy away from pain-he wrestled all summer with a broken foot. He told me he'd stop when it hurt too much to wrestle! That's Eddie's no-quit attitude."
Hal McGregor
Hal has wrestled for four years. His proudest achievement is going from winning just two matches his freshman year to achieving a 50% win rate as a sophomore and qualifying for State as a junior. His coach said, "Hal has developed into a great wrestler. He's always willing to learn and do what's needed to better himself, on and off the mat."
Izaak Munski
Izaak has wrestled for seven years, and his favorite memory is walking into the Metra for the State tournament his freshman year. His coach said, "Izaak is a great leader on and off the mat. He thinks about wrestling day in and day out. It has been a privilege to watch him grow up and an honor to coach him throughout his wrestling career."
Mady Faldzinski
Mady has wrestled for three years. Her proudest achievement is giving her best effort and making memories with great people. Her coach noted, "She always shows up with a smile on her face. She wrestles exceptionally well, and when she's not wrestling, she's the first to cheer on her teammates."
Nordika Göetze
Nordika has been the team's wrestling manager for the past two years. She once took stats for more than four wrestling matches simultaneously. Her coach said, "Every coach dreams of having a manager like Nordika. She is always in the right place at the right time and knows track wrestling better than anyone I know. The hardest part of next year will be finding someone to fill her shoes. Thank you, Nordika!"
Congratulations to these seniors for making us CASCADE PROUD!
