Proposed I-15 Resurfacing Through Craig

Public Invited to Comment on Proposed 8-Mile Project to Enhance Safety

CRAIG, Mont. — The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) would like to announce and invite the public to comment on a proposal to resurface about 8 miles of Interstate 15 (I-15), near Craig. The project begins just north of the Augusta Interchange, Exit 228, and extends north, ending 3 miles south of the Dearborn Rest Area.

Proposed work includes crack sealing, seal and cover (chip seal), upgraded pavement markings and new signage. The purpose of the project is to extend the life of the pavement and enhance safety features by improving skid resistance.

Construction is tentatively planned for 2027 depending on completion of design and availability of funds. No new right-of-way or utility relocations will be needed.

Partnering with the community is an important part of properly planning for future projects. MDT welcomes the public to provide ideas and comments on the proposed project. Comments may be submitted online at http://www.mdt.mt.gov/contact/comment-form.aspx or in writing to Montana Department of Transportation, Great Falls office, PO Box 1359, Great Falls, MT 59403-1359. Please note that comments are for project UPN 10543000.

The public is encouraged to contact Great Falls District Preconstruction Engineer Jim Combs at 406-454-5900 or Project Design Engineer Dan Block at 406-455-8327 with questions or comments about the project.
