Secretary of State Christi Jacobsen opens 69th Legislative Assembly with House address

HELENA, Mont. - Montana Secretary of State Christi Jacobsen officially launched the 69th Legislative Assembly and the 2025 Session on Monday afternoon.

Secretary Jacobsen addressed the Montana House of Representatives, where legislators from across the state completed their oaths of office ahead of the Legislative Session. After being sworn into office, representatives and senators attended the first House and Senate Floor Sessions of 2025.

"It is both an incredible honor and a serious responsibility for each of you to represent your community by serving our neighbors, family, and friends," said Secretary Jacobsen. "Your constituents sent you here to be their voice, to share their perspectives, and to translate them into policies that positively impact their lives. Doing so will require commitment, respect, and collaboration, while drawing on your strengths and experiences."

"At the end of the day, I believe we are more united than we are divided by our common mission to serve," she continued. "Come together with a vision for a better Montana, ensuring she remains the Last Best Place and our Treasure State. May God bless you, our beautiful state, and all those we represent."
