As winter settles over Cascade, the Town Council wishes to remind residents and property owners of their responsibilities regarding snow removal, as outlined in City Codes 12.13.010 and 12.13.020. Adherence to these codes ensures the safety and accessibility of sidewalks for everyone. Below is a list of key snow removal guidelines for Cascadians:
Key Snow Removal Guidelines:
City Code 12.13.010: Snow Removal Responsibility and Times Designated for Completion
- Property owners and tenants must keep sidewalks in front of and adjoining their premises clean and safe for pedestrians.
- Snow, ice, and similar materials must be removed:
+ In commercial areas: Before 11:00 a.m. each day.
+ In residential areas: Within 24 hours after snowfall.
- Once cleared, sidewalks must remain free of snow, ice, and similar hazards.
City Code 12.13.020: Snow and Ice Removal – Depositing Prohibited
- Snow, ice, and other materials removed from sidewalks in commercial areas must not be deposited onto adjoining streets, avenues, or alleys.
The Town Council emphasizes that while the Town will plow sidewalks when time and resources allow, residents’ cooperation is vital to keeping sidewalks clear for safe pedestrian use.
