Friday night, the Badgers took the court after a great week of practice. Our opponent was the Big Sandy Pioneers, and the boys played their cleanest game of the season. Strong defense and excellent ball movement had Big Sandy chasing us all night. By the end, the team had only 8 turnovers and led on the scoreboard, 76-23.
Kaden Jorgensen led the scoring with 21 points, adding 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Lane Ethridge tallied 14 points along with 7 rebounds. Tyler Lane logged a triple-double, scoring 12 points while pulling in 12 rebounds and dishing out 10 assists. Peyton Hauk scored 8 points, while Ian McKamey chipped in 4 points along with 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals. Sophomore Trent Lane played well off the bench, contributing 9 points and 8 rebounds.
Saturday night, we opened our conference schedule by hosting the Sunburst Refiners. Our pressure defense and smart play proved too much for the Refiners, and the Badgers claimed victory with a final score of 71-38.
Lane Ethridge scored 22 points, adding 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Kaden Jorgensen scored 16 points and had a team-high 6 steals. Tyler Lane stuffed the stat sheet again, scoring 11 points while pulling in 8 rebounds, dishing out 8 assists, and recording 4 blocks. Peyton Hauk snagged 10 rebounds and chipped in 9 points, while Ian McKamey added 8 points of his own.
Our top six players performed so well that we were able to get all our underclassmen their first varsity minutes. Drake Lange, Deyton Raether, Bobby Rumney, and Cameron Cordeiro each scored their first varsity points this past weekend!
The Badgers head into the holiday break with a 3-1 overall record and a 1-0 record in conference play. We'll use the extra practice time during the Christmas break to prepare for our next games. We'll return to the court on Friday, January 3rd, at Simms. On Saturday, January 4th, we'll be back home to face Class B Shelby in what promises to be a tough contest.
