Baptist Church Hosts Thanksgiving Dinner

The First Baptist Church of Cascade hosted its annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner on Thursday, November 28, at Wedsworth Hall. This local event provides a free Thanksgiving dinner to those who may not have one or to anyone who simply wishes to attend. The church also delivers meals to individuals who are unable to travel to the hall, including workers at the Great Falls Detention Center and elderly residents of Cascade who have difficulty leaving their homes.

The Community Thanksgiving Dinner was founded by the First Baptist Church in 2012 "...as an effort to reach the community of Cascade with the love and generosity of the Lord and...to fill a void for anyone who might find themselves alone on Thanksgiving," says Pastor Steve Boettger. The event has been held at Wedsworth Hall annually since then, every Thanksgiving Day.

The meal features all of the Thanksgiving dinner classics-from turkey to mashed potatoes, green bean casserole to pumpkin pie. The event is always a treat, offering a variety of food to satisfy everyone's palate.

This event is available to anyone at no charge and would not be possible without donations made by the community. All of the food and drinks are donated by members of the church, and the use of Wedsworth Hall is provided by the Wedsworth Foundation. In addition, the event is organized entirely by volunteers who give of themselves to cook the food, prepare the venue, and help with the cleanup afterwards. A very special thanks from the First Baptist Church goes out to all volunteers and donors.

"[The biggest impact we hope to provide is] reaching people with the love of Christ. That they can see what the church is about and why we're here," says Pastor Boettger.

Looking ahead, the Community Thanksgiving Dinner shows no sign of fading away and will be held again next Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 2025.
