Happy November to everyone! I hope all the hunters are having luck out there. My hubby hasn’t had success yet, but he’s still working on it and enjoying every minute of his vacation during hunting season. I’d like to wish a very happy birthday to all our November birthdays: Alexis Williams and Scott Matheny on the 2nd; Stacie Stone and Tavia Kohles on the 3rd; Rebecca Kinane, Juanita Poulston, Erin Faulkner, and Scott McKay on the 5th; Kacie Stone and the great state of Montana on the 6th; Loran Stensland on the 7th; Jessica Harshaw and Dave Fulton on the 10th; Anne Olson on the 11th; Randy Bogden on the 12th; Chris Hoffman on the 13th; Lynn Formell and Michelle Fuller on the 14th; Jordyn Mellinger on the 15th; Katrina Thennis and Jack Iverson on the 16th; Sue Richter on the 17th; Rohanda Brugman on the 18th; Jill MacGillivray, Charlie Spry, Linsey Roan, and Colt Deschenes on the 23rd; Troy Brugman, Bob Wienen, and Lilly Grismer on the 25th; and Kalynn Cooke on the 26th.
The Pinochle Club met on October 14, and I’m just now getting around to posting our results. We had a fantastic Halloween-themed night at Deb Hanson’s house, with Severin Gilbert co-hosting. We enjoyed fun treats, drinks, and, of course, some competitive pinochle. Amy had the lowest score of the night, while Dale Gilbert, filling in for us, claimed the high score. (Not sure we’ll let him play again after that—just kidding!) We also had two double pinochles, one by Nancy and one by Juanita. This month, Valerie and Erin will be hosting at Erin’s house.
The Ulm School had a very successful Halloween carnival last Sunday, complete with hay rides behind a tractor. There were tons of games, snacks, and some amazing costumes. Although I didn’t get a chance to check out all the decorated houses, the two near the firehall were especially impressive. What fun!
The Ulm Bible Church and the Truth Trackers (our kids' club on Wednesday nights) are preparing to make shoeboxes for Samaritan’s Purse Shoebox Ministry. If anyone would like to contribute, we have a donation box available. If you want to make your own shoebox, please bring it to the church by November 24. The kids will be filling boxes with donated items on the 20th, thoughtfully selecting gifts for each age group. Afterward, we’ll pray over the boxes and hope they bring joy to each child who receives one. You can even track your shoeboxes to see where they end up—such a wonderful feature!
The Ulm Pishkun 4-H Club had a full house at our November meeting on Sunday. Our new officers did a fantastic job leading their first meeting. We went through our business, held a door prize drawing, and enjoyed snacks. Then, we made homemade Christmas cards and prepared gift bags with fuzzy socks and candy, decorating each bag with a bow. We made at least 50 of these, which we’ll deliver to nursing homes in Great Falls at our next meeting and Christmas pizza party on December 1.
November is a month of gratitude and reflection...
