For the past 10 years, Belt has held a BFT Basket Raffle to raise money for scholarships for BVHS students who want to become teachers. BFT stands for the Belt Federation of Teachers. Typically, BFT awards two $500 scholarships to high school seniors or college students from Belt each year. Currently, their only fundraiser is the Basket Raffle.
The baskets can be created by community members, staff members, and teachers. Debbie Vogt, a middle school English and science teacher at Belt, is the head of this fundraiser. Each basket should have a specific theme. In the past, popular themes have included Pet Care, Coffee, Reading, Chocolate, Family Night, UM Griz, and MSU Bobcats. The fun basket always has a variety of goodies.
Tickets will be sold, and the baskets will be displayed starting October 28, 2024. Tickets can be purchased before and after the Fall Concert on Tuesday, October 29, or during the Parent/Teacher Conferences on November 4 and 5 from 4–7 p.m. The winning tickets will be drawn on November 5 at 7:00 p.m.
Tickets cost $1 each, but bargain hunters can pay $5 for 6 tickets or $20 for 25 tickets. For more information, contact [email protected]. Help the Belt Huskies produce more teachers and staff all around the world with this raffle. The BFT thanks all who have participated in this fundraiser by making baskets or purchasing tickets!
