Badgers Fight Hard in Home Showdown, Chinook Prevails

On Friday, September 6th, the Chinook Sugarbeeters came to town. The home crowd was well-represented with families, students, and the band. With the opening kickoff, the teams clashed, and the game was on. After small gains, the offense punted and the defense took the field near the goal line. After several stout defensive plays, the Badgers forced a Sugarbeeter fumble, and the offense returned to the field. After some hard runs provided minimal gains, Ian McKamey found Sterling Byrnes for a 5-yard touchdown on 4th and goal, giving the Badgers a 6-0 lead.

Over the next several drives, the Sugarbeeters gained the upper hand, scoring on three unanswered drives in the second quarter. The second half featured a more balanced contest between the squads, but the deficit was too large to overcome. The Badgers battled valiantly, showing great heart and teamwork, and represented us well. The defense showcased some hard-hitting action and storied moments of individual acts of valor. The offensive highlight was a tipped-ball, 35-yard catch-and-run connection between McKamey and Izaak Munski that energized the team and crowd.

Final Score: Chinook 48 - Cascade 12
