As you're reading this, the Ulm Pinochle group has just had our first game of the new season. We headed to Nancy Mortag's house, and I'll update you on the scoring and all the fun in my next article.

School is back in session, and so are 4-H and Truth Trackers at the church. The Truth Trackers ice cream social is on the 18th for sign-up, but you can join any time. It's Wednesday nights from 6-8. We eat dinner at 6, and then start the meetings at 6:30. The ages are K-6th grade.

The Ulm Pishkun 4-H Club had its first meeting of the year on Sunday. Even though you can't officially sign up for 4-H until October 1st, we start our meetings early. We have things to do, places to go, and things to see! We are getting ready to help with the Pancake Supper at the fire hall on the 28th of this month. We can't wait to start meeting in the new community center at the fire hall. They're getting so close to being done—it looks awesome and is quite a bit bigger than where we have been meeting. We're grateful for all the years the Ulm Church has let us use their facilities, but we're outgrowing it quickly and can't wait for more room. We had five new people attend the meeting, where we introduced ourselves with a fun fact or talked about what we do for our projects. We also shared something fun we did over the summer break. We signed up for work shifts at the Pancake Supper and for snacks for the monthly meetings. Then we made "Rocky." Rocky is a snake made of painted rocks along Joe's Trail. You will surely see him when you drive by. It is just the beginning for Rocky—I hope he grows fast! Please paint a rock and add it to Rocky so we can see how long he can grow over the years. We'll have a sign explaining him soon, but for now, it's word of mouth, so pass it on. Maybe the Ulm School kids can all paint rocks too? That would be awesome!

It's been a rough summer for gardens, but I'm seeing a bit of harvest here and there. I hope some of you are going to the weekly Farmers Market over in Cascade on Friday nights from 5-7. It's a great time with live music, food, and of course, all the vendors. There are different vendors every week, so you need to come each time to see new things. There's also different music and food each week. It's a great place to meet your neighbors and just relax before the weekend. Enjoy the cooler evenings and sunsets!
