Twelve members of the Dearborn Garden Club enjoyed their annual garden tour at the home of Joanie Bayer in Helena on Saturday, August 21st. The flowers were outstanding and were interspersed with crafty recycled works of art. Members then gathered at the Grubstake Restaurant for a regular meeting. President Donna Hayes called the meeting to order and welcomed guests Kerry Hoveland, Robin Rose, and Vickie Sheppard.
Under new business, members learned that Carol Brady and Charlene Moug donated $5,000 for the installation of a watering system at Joe’s Trail, which will be installed by Ron Hall Sprinklers. This will allow the flowers to be watered regularly. Sue O’Leary reported on the upcoming District Meeting that will be hosted by the Dearborn Club and held in Cascade at the Senior Center. It will take place on September 26th from 12:15 to 3:30 PM, with the theme “Apple Harvest.” Elaine Wood will present on Pressed Apple Cider. Dearborn members are asked to bring snacks. Each club will be assessed $1 per member, and each club will be responsible for two door prizes and a silent auction basket to cover expenses. Any leftover funds will be used for flower show expenses. Registration papers for the district meeting were distributed, and certificates for State Awards were then presented. Hostesses for the meeting were Carol Brady, Donna Hayes, Robin Williams, and Linda Hinebauch.
