The 2024 Speed C Tailgate Kickoff Cornhole Tournament took place this past weekend and what a day to get together and kick off the football season! A slightly overcast day with temps in the low 80s made for the perfect setting to throw bags and support the football team at their annual fundraiser. The community showed up to eat pulled pork and chicken prepared by the talented Armondo Romero along with all the fixings. There were drawings, a highly competitive dessert auction, a raffle, and of course, a 50-50 drawing (Congratulations to Cascade’s own Tina Mann!).
You could feel fall in the air and excitement in the crowd as they enjoyed the competition and company of many. “This event is about sports and community.” said Iain McGregor, president of Speed C. “We are excited to support these kids and raise funds to help feed the teams on the long road trips that are part of Class C football. This is really the last opportunity before the season starts to kick back and relax.”
Youth and adults alike had a good time! The cornhole tournament had a youth bracket that was won by the OJ team that consisted of Jason Brooks and Owen Sivertsen, both are members of the Badgers JH Football Team. The 2023 champions repeated in the adult bracket where Josh Pepos and River Hanson of the Wild Dingos held off fierce competition to maintain the title of Champions of the Speed C Tailgate Kickoff Tournament!
Thanks to everyone who put this event together for the football players in our community, to Randy Bogden for calling all the action, and to the loyal Cascade community for backing our Badgers!
