Discontinuation of the XCELL Afterschool Program

I hope this message finds you well and the new school year is off to a great start for you and your families. I am writing to inform you of a change affecting our afterschool offerings. Regrettably, the XCELL afterschool program will no longer be available beginning the new calendar year, following the conclusion of the first semester of the 2024-2025 school year.

The XCELL program has been a resource for our community, offering academic support, snacks, and childcare services for students after school until they were able to be picked up at 6:00 pm. However, due to a loss of funding, we will be unable to continue this program. The District no longer receives the 21st Century Community Learning Centers grant, which has been the funding source for this program over the last several years. We have experienced a decrease in grant eligibility attributed, in part, to a decrease in our Title I numbers, as well as an increase in applications from other districts across the state.

We understand the impact this change may have on our students and families who have relied on the resources and opportunities provided by XCELL. Our team is actively exploring alternative funding sources and is open to partnering with non-public organizations or businesses interested in continuing the program using our facilities. Unfortunately, as of now, we do not have an alternative solution, and the program will cease operations at the end of the first semester.

We appreciate the dedication and efforts of our staff, volunteers, and partners who have contributed to the success of XCELL. Your commitment has made a significant difference in the lives of our students.

We will keep you informed of any developments regarding future programs and potential partnerships. Please feel free to contact the school if you have any questions, comments or suggestions regarding this. Thank you for your understanding and continued support of the school as we navigate this transition.
