Biden Drops Out Of Race, Endorses Harris

President Joe Biden announced his withdrawal from the 2024 presidential race on Sunday, June 21, following a challenging debate with Donald Trump. This unexpected move, just four months before the election, was influenced by a poor debate performance that raised concerns about his fitness for office.

Biden’s decision comes after significant pressure from Democratic allies post-debate, where his performance was marked by trailing off, giving nonsensical answers, and not challenging Trump’s falsehoods. He endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris to take on Trump and called for party unity behind her.

Biden plans to serve out the remainder of his term, which ends on January 20, 2025. In his letter posted on X, he expressed his honor in serving as President but believed stepping down was best for the party and for the country.

Biden’s decision reshapes the Democratic primary process, with Harris emerging as the immediate favorite. Democratic leaders and voters now face the task of uniting quickly to present a strong candidate against Trump.
