Turbulence & Clouds

This morning I boarded a flight, put in my earbuds and started listening to my “travel playlist.” The flight was bumpy, the clouds were thick and the view was terrible.

But about halfway through the flight we got to that magical point — the one where the plane lifts so that clouds are below you and the blue sky is above you, and they meet in a perfect line on the distant horizon. The bumps disappeared, the sun shone and the words of Andrew Peterson’s Is He Worthy? played in my ears, “Do you know that all the dark won’t stop the light from getting through? Do you wish that you could see it all made new? We do.”

As parents, we have the precious responsibility of reminding our kids that the bumps of life won’t last forever. Whether their current path is peaceful and bright or turbulent and dark, we can tenderly remind them of the truths of Scripture: No matter what happens, no matter what the view looks like today, no one can stop the Light from getting through. And one day, we will see it all made new.

Talk About This One Thing:

“Does your life feel perfectly smooth right now? Or does it feel a little bumpy?”

Continue the Conversation:

1. When life gets bumpy, it may feel like God is far away. Teach your family that God is always with them. Hebrews 13:5

2. Every day as your child leaves your car or house to go to school or an activity, tell them, “God loves you and is with you always!” Have your child answer back, “If God is for me, who can be against me?”

3. Enjoy listening to Andrew Peterson’s Is He Worthy? with your family.
