The Cascade Zoning Committee held their first meeting of the year on Wednesday, January 3, at the town hall. Several topics were covered:
Regulation of commercial use of short-term rentals (AirBNB, VRBO, etc.) This topic was discussed due to concerns about happenings related to short-term rentals in other states.
Reviewing possible changes to residential and multi-family housing zones. Any changes were agreed to be tabled until any issues were resolved.
Adjustment of a property boundary. This topic was brought to the committee by Will Scott representing Mike Moore. Craig Moore notably abstained from voting on this matter due to Mike being related to him.
Camper/RV zoning/ordinance.
Recording of meetings to protect interests of committee members and of the members of our community. It was agreed that a request will need to be made to the Cascade City Council for a policy change that will allow committee members to record during their meetings. Reportedly, community members are free to record these meetings for their own personal use. The Cascade Courier will be continuing to report on these meetings as well.
Setting a tentative date for the remaining 3 quarterly meetings of the Zoning Committee for their yearly minimum. The tentative date for the next quarterly meeting is Wednesday, April 3 at 5:00 PM and will be held at Wedsworth Hall (the building on Front Street with the sign that says "Opera House") in the meeting room.
The meeting was concluded with the nomination and election of Ron Flink as the Zoning Committee president, Channing Hartelius as the committee vice chair, and Craig Moore as the committee's secretary.
Keep your eyes open for the official meeting minutes, to be published in a future issue of The Cascade Courier. You can also check the Courier's "Save The Date" column on page 1 to keep track of any changes to the scheduled meeting dates. Meetings are open to the public. Thank you to the Zoning Committee for your dedication to making Cascade a great place for us to live!
