Lady Badgers' December Games

On December 19 the Shelby Coyotes came to Cascade and played a tough game, resulting in a 42-28 loss for the Badgers. The Badgers did pound the board and outrebounded the Coyotes 43-35 and had 6 assists to their 0. Unfortunately, the Badgers were outshot from long range by 18 points, that was the difference in the game. The Badgers did use great hustle to keep it close 20-12 in the first half. Injuries made it tough for the Badgers for them to keep that pace. Aubrey Hammett did dominate the boards with 13 to lead the Badgers. Sophia Mortag also had 8 rebounds from the point guard position. Allie Park in only 7 minutes had 7 rebounds. Mackenzie Hauk led the scoring with 9 points.

Thursday, December 22 the Badgers traveled to Simms to play a tough Tiger Team. It was up and down game with Badgers leading by as much as 7 and losing by as many as 6. The Badgers kept fighting and pulled out a great 37-36 victory to keep their unbeaten streak of regular conference games that extends to 15 games. The Badgers won the game by outscoring the Tigers 12-0 in second-chance points. Also, the Badgers used 18 Steals to lead to some easy buckets. Sophia Mortag and Mackenzie Hauk lead the team in rebounds and steals. Mortag had 7 rebounds and 6 steals. Hauk had 6 rebounds and 5 steals. Kyleigh Sivertson had 13 points on 5-7 from the field and 3-4 from the line.

The Badgers practiced hard over the holidays, and we got some younger athletes who are developing nicely, while the Varsity players are striving to get better. Next home game will be Saturday, Jan 6th. JV game at noon and the Varsity game at 3:00, with the boys also playing at 1:30 and 4:30. Come and support your local Badgers. Go Badgers!!!
