There was basketball action Saturday morning at Cascade Public Schools, as elementary basketball teams from the towns of Cascade, Belt and Fairfield met for some friendly competition. Teams were divided into 1st - 2nd grade, 3rd-4th grade, and 5th grade. Ability, of course, varied from each age group. The little ones were fun to watch; they just wanted to have fun, not knowing much of the rules, and depending on their coaches for direction (one even ran toward the wrong goal with the ball!). The middle group, being a little more experienced, showed good ball control and played more like a team. The 5th graders took the competition much more seriously and were razor-focused on the competition. I've watched these guys before and it is evident that they're going to be a force to reckon with. Watch for great things from this group in the coming years!
Thanks to all the coaches who invest their time in our youth, and thanks to all the parents and grandparents who show up to support their young athletes; it means more to them than you will ever imagine!
