I had the privilege of going to Blake Leardini's Eagle Scout ceremony. If you have never been to one before, make it a point to go to the next one you hear about. These young men are outstanding and have accomplished amazing things. His Eagle scout project was the beautiful new metal gate at the Ulm cemetery. It is so neat and now we have a established date. Three ladies from the cemetery board were present and I was told that even they did not know the exact date until Blake started his project. So thanks to his prompting and their investigating we found out that it is 1912. Go check it out sometime. The whole ceremony was very moving as it was MC's by his brother Trent (who did an outstanding job) and everyone in his family had a part. The Marine corps were represented as were many other scout members. An American flag was flown for a day in his honor at the State Capitol and then the flag and a signed (by the Governor) certificate were presented to Blake. He received more pins and honors and had quite the display of patches, pins, honors and achievements from his years of scouting. Blake is a Senior at Cascade High School. Good luck in the future Blake, you've got this, and Congratulations!
The Ulm Pishkun 4-H Club had it's November meeting. We have 60 members on the roster so far this year. We had about 40 of them present at the meeting. We are getting our shirts ordered for the year. We are also planning our Christmas party at the Littles Lanes bowling alley this year. We haven't had a bowling party in about 10 years so I'm super excited for them. We will be having a gift exchange along with all the other fun.
This is a short article but this time of year is all about hunting season around our house. If anyone has any great hunting stories, let me know. The hubby got a nice 5 pt buck, but no luck in the elk department. My Son in law got a nice 5x6 elk, a pretty darn big antelope and lots of ducks and geese and pheasants so far. I do know that Heather Spurzem nailed her cow elk right off the bat, so good job. I wish everyone good luck on getting that meat in the freezer and be safe out there.
