Celebrate autumn with events at Giant Springs State Park

GREAT FALLS – Giant Springs State Park in Great Falls is holding two events in October to help visitors get outdoors to celebrate autumn and learn new outdoor skills.

Get in the Halloween spirit by attending the “Fishing for Pumpkins Festival” held on Sunday, Oct. 8 from 12 to 4 p.m. The festival will feature a variety of family-friendly events celebrating the changing seasons, including a bean bag toss, pumpkin carving, sack races, musical chairs, face painting, migration challenge game, spooky critters, s’mores and more. All activities are free and designed for children ages five and older, and some are only available “while supplies last”.

On Saturday, Oct. 14, park staff will offer a “Spin Fishing 101” class designed for people of all ages who have never fished before but would like to learn. The class will consist of demonstration and instruction and culminates with a short fishing trip in the park. No fishing license is required to participate in the class, but equipment and space is limited. The class is free, and advanced registration is required and available by calling the ranger station.

For more information on Giant Springs State Park or either of the events, visit the park’s Facebook page: facebook.com/GiantSpringsStatePark or call the ranger station at 406-727-1212.
