The Badger High School football team traveled to Drummond to take on the Flint Creek Titans last Friday, September29th.
Flint Creek came out fast returning the opening kick deep into Badger territory. They quickly scored and tacked on a two point conversion to create an early badger deficit of 8-0. After a strong Badger drive stalled out giving the ball back to Flint Creek, the Badger defense held putting the offense back on the field. Down 8-0 on the road, the Badgers put together another long drive, featuring two fourth down conversions and ending on a 4th and 10, 15 yard passing touchdown from McKamey to Hauk, bringing the score to 8-6. Sterling Byrnes intercepted Flint Creek ending their next drive and the Badgers took possession again. The running game of Ian McKamey and Caiden Sekuterski drove the ball promptly behind a stout offensive line. The Badgers scored again on a Sekuterski 24 yard touchdown run taking the lead from the Titans early in the second quarter 12-8. On the first play of the next drive, Ian McKamey intercepted a Flint Creek throw and returned it 24 yards. The offense went back to work on the ground grinding out first downs. From the Titan 25 yard line, Sekuterski grabbed a toss from McKamey and followed Hauk and Crowell blocks to pay dirt, bringing the score to 18-8 Badgers. The next several possessions went in favor of the Titans, with them working their way to the end zone and holding the Badger offense at bay. After another quarter and a half of slug it out South Central conference Class C football, the Titans overcame the Badger charge putting the game out of reach. With 3 minutes left in the game, QB Drake Lange led a long drive deep into Titan territory. With many of the JV players in the game and hungry for a score, the Badgers broke through with a 20 yard touchdown strike from Lange to Riley Petit. Final Score, Badgers 26 - Titans 50.
