Junior High Badgers Continue To Shine

The Cascade Badger Junior High Football Team continued their season at Homecoming last Friday against division foe, the Lone Peak Big Horns. The Badgers put forth a dominant effort and emerged with the victory 56-8. The win improved the Badgers record to 3-1 on the season while staying undefeated against division opponents.

The Badgers' defense was nearly impenetrable throughout the contest and surrendered just 12 total yards against the Big Horns. In addition to keeping the Big Horn's offense in check, the Badgers forced four turnovers and did not allow an offensive score. Kooper Coates set the tone early for the defense, stopping the Big Horn's initial play for negative yardage and continued to create chaos for the Big Horns until the contest was out of reach. Jason Brooks was also a force throughout the day, forcing and recovering a Big Horn fumble. Lane McKamey saw his first action of the season and made his presence felt from the Linebacker position. Kalen Vanek and Isaac Edmundson contributed strong defensive efforts, each coming up with an interception and multiple pass deflections. On offense, the Badgers took to the ground for the majority of the contest, gaining 223 total yards with 212 of that rushing yardage. The offensive line, anchored by Jadon Fuller, Tre Butcher, Coates and Brooks, cleared the way for four different runners to score. Kael Smith led the badgers ground attack with 79 rushing yards, scoring three rushing touchdowns. Jayden Alatorre and Vanek each rushed for 50 yards with Alatorre scoring twice and Vanek once. Edmundson rushed for one touchdown and hooked up with Smith for the Badgers lone passing touchdown. In addition to his four touchdowns, Smith added two two-point conversions to complete his big day.

The Badgers are back in action this Friday at the undefeated Choteau Bulldogs.
