It's Back To School!

After an unusually HOT summer, everyone was ready to get back to school and cooler temperatures. And just like magic, the first day of school saw the hoodies and coats come out! Parents and students were greeted Monday morning with rain and temperatures in the 50s, a welcome relief from the 100+ temps of last week. Buses were running on time, carrying students eager to be reunited with friends and eager get back to "normal". Even the parents were smiling as they dropped off their kids! (Hmmm, wonder why?)

The day started out with a short assembly where students were welcomed by the new Principal, Mr. Michael Wilson, who shared some expectations for the year and introduced the new staff, as well as the "old". Mr. Schulte, aside from his regular assignment as the computer Science/Business teacher, will also now be the new "Dean of Students", who will handle behavior and discipline issues.

Tina Mann addressed the students on the topic of checking out with her in the front office if having lunch off campus. Students need to sign out with both first and last names, and their writing must be legible, otherwise, they will lose that privilege. She also addressed parking permits if students would be driving to school; they will need a permission slip that is in their student packet that their parents need to sign. With that permission, they may drive to go eat off-campus, but they may not take anyone else with them.

The assembly ended with the Student Council leading the students in a game, a sort of horse race, where students were given "stick horses" and were read the rules. They had to mount the horse which meant that the horse had to be between their legs. The teams were divided by grades. The game got the crowd excited as they rooted for their team to win. If anyone was still sleepy from getting up early in the morning, they were wide awake now as they were dismissed back to their first classes.

HAVE A GREAT YEAR GUYS; KEEP THAT ENTHUSIASM GOING!!!
