Heavy rains hit Cascade Thursday afternoon, causing minor flooding on the north end of town. All afternoon the storm had been forming over the Adel Mountains, dark looming clouds threatening with deep rumbling thunder. Then, the rain came sweeping down in torrents, making driving difficult, windshield wipers being ineffective against the rain falling in sheets, and people caught outside scrambling for shelter. Except for the flooding, however, there was no major damage. Weather alerts later that evening called for possible additional heavy rainfall throughout the overnight hours.
