Our club has been busy cleaning and planting our planters around town as well as planting our 911 Garden and the flower bed at the Wedsworth Park. We also cleaned up the areas and planted many new perennials and stained the tables and benches. A water drip system will be installed there as well as a new metal roof over the picnic area. We hope you enjoy them when you visit the Trail Head area or the park. We also cleaned our section of the highway on the Missouri Inn exit. It looks so nice and green.
Rose bowls will be given to Cascade businesses and book marks to celebrate spring.
Kayleen McKamey was named as winner of our $1,000 college scholarship.
Elaine Olsen from Helmville gave an interesting talk about "Butterflies of Montana".
Food was collected for the Cascade Food Bank.
Nominations were taken and the following were elected for office for the next two years. They are Preident – Claire Howell, Co-Vice President – Donna Hayes and Sherri Walls, Secretary- Judy Fettig, and Treasurer – Marian Rau. Members signed up to be hostesses.
Our 86th annual State Convention is June 2-23 in Billings. The theme is "Building Community Through Gardening". Garden club gives lots of ideas ideas to growing a successful butterfly garden - grow plenty of nectar plants, grow caterpillar food plants, choose a sunny location, provide shelter, and don't use pesticides. The butterflies will love it.
We will have a meeting and installation of officers in June.
