Lady Badgers End of the Year Awards Ceremony

The Lady Badgers held the end of year awards ceremony coming together to celebrate a successful season. While never being the tallest team on the court, the Badgers used their athleticism and determination, finishing the regular season undefeated in the district. They also fought through injuries to take 2nd place at the 10C District tournament. The Badgers fought hard but finished 0-2 at Northern C Divisional Tournament. They ended the season with a record of 16-6. We would like to thank our captains (Harlie Jackson and Alaina Barger) for incredible leadership and basketball play. They set the example for years to come for Cascade Lady Badgers basketball. It is very tough to say goodbye to these two wonderful ladies. As I stated at the banquet, what made this team so fun to coach and amazing on the court was reflected on how they sat at the awards ceremony. All the players (the seniors to the 8th graders) all crowded around one table, eating and laughing together. All season they worked together and supported each other; there were no attitudes or egos. They lived by the saying: "One team, one fight!"

At the awards ceremony the following received letters: Alaina Barger, Harlie Jackson, Izzy Langerderfer, Braedyn Johnson, Mackenzie Hauk, Lilou Giraudeau, Sophia Mortag, Audrey Rummey, Ashlyn Korst, Aubrey Hamlett, and Kyleigh Sivertson. We had three 8th graders that played awesome and earned their JV pin, Clair McKamey, Avery Jorgensen, Alexis McWilliams. All conference awards handed out included: First Team All Conference - Sophia Mortag and Mackenzie Hauk; Second Team All Conference - Alaina Barger. Team awards included: Most Improved - Kyleigh Sivertson; Offensive Player of the Year - Sophia Mortag; and Defensive Player of the Year - Mackenzie Hauk.

I would like to recognize and thank my amazing assistant coach Karsen, who is a great coach, and I appreciate everything she does to improve our program. We want to thank our managers: Shelby McWilliams, Bryclyn Lord, and Madison Cope, who never get enough recognition for the work they do, but we would be lost without them. Also, thank you to the parents for allowing us to coach their amazing kids. The Lady Badgers have achieved level of play that needs to be maintained and improved upon. That will start with participation in the Summer program and skills work throughout the year. We have a lot of activities planned and hope to get a lot of participation. The following are the final stats for the Lady Badgers. Once again, thank you to all who made this season a success, and GO BADGERS!
