Hello Spring! The Dearborn Garden Club met for their first meeting of 2023 at the Methodist Education Building on Wednesday, March 15. Invocation was given by Lois Rumney and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited. We welcomed guest Francie Robertson who some remember as former owner of Park and Pond.
Prayers were sent to the family of Louise Volkman, longtime garden club member who recently passed away and also to the family of Hugo Anderson, husband of DBGC member. A celebration of life for Hugo will be held June 17 from 1-4 at the Wedsworth Hall. Louise's celebration will be at a later date this summer.
The club selected our nominee for the State Green Thumb award. Applications were also sent in for nominees for 6 other awards.
Our annual District meeting will be held April 27 at the Meadow Lark Country Club. DBGC will be doing table decorations for the event and they will be used as door prizes too. The speaker will talk about "How to Make Your Own Rain Garden".
After a delicious lunch served by our caterer Sherri Walls we listened to our speaker Mike Owens about "Growing Orchids" who gave us lots if ideas.
Coming up on April 20 from 8-12:30 p.m. is an Urban Pesticide Education seminar at the College of Great Falls Heritage Hall.
