8/22/24 - Dear Parents and Community Members, Due to situations out of our control, the building was put on hold due to a disturbance in the hallway during class time at the end of the day. Because of our obligations to uphold FERPA laws, we can not give additional details regarding the situation. As a precautionary measure we held students in the classroom to help alleviate a potential for increased escalation. Student safety is our utmost priority and we reacted in a manner to ensure all students were safe. The school and grounds are safe....
And just like that summer vacation is over! Every year, summer break seems to get shorter and shorter. I remember when school would not begin until after Labor Day, but last Wednesday saw the familiar yellow and black school buses, filled with sleepy students, drop them off at their home-away-from home, for another fun-filled year of learning and reconnecting with friends that some hadn’t seen in the last few months. Actually, if students were honest, they would confess that they were really b...
I hope this message finds you well and the new school year is off to a great start for you and your families. I am writing to inform you of a change affecting our afterschool offerings. Regrettably, the XCELL afterschool program will no longer be available beginning the new calendar year, following the conclusion of the first semester of the 2024-2025 school year. The XCELL program has been a resource for our community, offering academic support, snacks, and childcare services for students after school until they were able to be picked up at...
Hello! My name is Amanda Iverson, and I am excited to be teaching the business classes at Cascade High School. I was born and raised in Cascade and while I've lived here and there over the years this wonderful little town has always been home. My husband, Dustin- who was also born and raised here in Cascade-and I are raising our three children and a herd of other critters just south of town in Chestnut Valley. In 2017 I graduated from MSU Bozeman with my degree in Secondary Education and since...
"No more pencils; no more books; no more teachers' dirty looks. Out for summer. Out 'til fall. We might not come back at all!" - Alice Cooper, "School's Out" Well, we all know that's not true. A couple of weeks into their summer break and they're going to miss the classroom and their friends. And their teachers! Yeah, they'll miss those teachers' "dirty looks", and they'll realize that they really were looks of love; looks which brought their daydreaming back into the lesson; looks that taught...
Always a treat to watch is the Kindergarten Graduation, not only because they'll amaze you with how much they've learned in one year, but also because they run the entire program! Kindergarten teachers Sharon Stevens and Alexis Culp did an outstanding job in preparing these kids for first grade. Kids that one imagines were probably unmanageable on that first day of school back in August (we all know what kind of kids we dropped on the laps of these unsuspecting teachers that first day), they've...
Friends, school staff, and former co-workers got together Friday morning to bid farewell to a beloved lady who had been a fixture at Cascade Public Schools for the last 35 years. Karen Matteson, libraian and former teacher, who has made an impact in the lives of almost every child who has passed through the hallways of this school, will at last take that well-deserved retirement, to begin a new chapter in her life. Presented with a rocking chair, signed by the staff, Karen has plans to travel...
Ending a hectic end of school week was the Eighth Grade Celebration, held Thursday evening, and marking the transition of these students from middle school into high school. Class advisors were Mrs. Formell and Mrs. Johnson. Following the Opening Procession, Principal Michael Wilson welcomed the parents and friends to the night's celebration. P.T.A. Awards were presented by Mrs. Costa to recipients Robert (Bobby) Rumney and Alexandria (Allie) Park. Mr. Wilson presented the Honors Awards to...
The long-awaited day for the Class of '24 finally came this past Sunday at the North Gym as this year's seniors said a final good-bye to Cascade Public Schools, to begin a new chapter in their lives. Five of these seniors had spent their entire school life here, Badgers since kindergarten! But they will all take with them fond memories and values that can only be learned at a small town school. One wonders, however, what goes on in the seniors' minds as they sit there on the stage, the focus of...
The last time we saw Mrs. Culp's kindergarteners, they were sitting on the small hill in the elementary playground, intently looking up at the sky, with their special glasses, with the hope of possibly getting a glimpse of what was supposed to be the event of the year, a total solar eclipse. Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate that day to the disappointment of, not only them, but the rest of us in Cascade. The sun disappearing is not really an unusual event. Solar eclipses happen more...
Once again, characters from the past were brought back to life at Cascade Public Schools this past Thursday, giving everyone a unique history lesson. Fourth graders from Kourtney Holten's class, and Amanda Brown's high schoolers researched their characters and dressed up in period costumes to give their characters authenticity as they brought them to life. There were so many characters and, unfortunately, not enough time to visit with all of them. Maybe next time this Wax Museum could be...
Update on the greenhouse! If the weather would last a little longer than 2 dry days, we could get cement poured into the corner braces. That currently is what is holding up our progress. Once those can get poured, the rest of the structure should go up rapidly. Barb Byrne is going to have some other adults that will be able to help within the next week with the raising of the structure, building of the walls and pulling on the plastic. We do have flowers already growing in the indoor...
Hello! My name is Molly Parks. I have been teaching for the last seven years in Kalispell, Montana, and have taught both third and fourth grade. There are many things that I enjoy about teaching. Children have such unique personalities. One of my favorite things is getting to know them individually and learning their strengths and things they want to improve upon. I strive to create a classroom environment where children enjoy exploring interests, develop strong peer relationships, grow academically, and of course smile and laugh often. I was b...
The 2024 annual school election is quickly approaching for Cascade Schools. This year there were two (2) trustee positions open representing the Elementary District 3 & High School District B. Incumbents John Rumney and Ruth Mortag are the only two individuals to file for those seats, with no write-ins, so that portion of the election was cancelled by acclamation. The incumbents will be sworn in at the May 21st Organizational Meeting for a 3-year term. Thank you to Mr. Rumney & Mrs. Mortag for their service to Cascade Schools and...
District Music Festival was held last Thursday and Friday, April 11 and 12 in Great Falls. The musicians from Cascade High School did an awesome job representing our school! Thursday saw the High School Band travel to the University of Providence to perform as a large group. They played two prepared pieces as well as doing some sight reading. The prepared pieces were top notch and the adjudicators were very pleased with the way the band looked, acted and played! The prepared pieces earned a...

She began teaching elementary school when Jim Donovan was high school principal, Bruce Allen was elementary principal, and John Dallum was superintendent. She worked in the elementary school for 25 years before becoming the K-12 librarian. "The best part about working in a K-12 school has been watching the students grow...

"FIRE AND ICE" was the theme this year for the 2024 Prom, held at the Wedsworth Hall this past Saturday. After the "COOL" formalities of the Grand Entrance, where the handsome young men posed with their beautiful young ladies, and after the crowning of the Prom's King and Queen, Seth McKamey and Cora Culp, and after most of the parents had "left the building", the couples proceeded to set the dance floor on "FIRE"! (Who knew these guys could dance?!) Catering was provided by "Cascade-Romero"...

The Cascade Schools Music Department presented its annual Music In Our Schools Month Concert and Turkey Dinner on Thursday (Leap Day), February 29th. The cafeteria was transformed into a fine restaurant, with students waiting on the dinner guests and making sure every table was taken care of, better than in some places. The annual turkey dinner was provided by our Master Chef, Armando Romero and his crew, and featured turkey, stuffing, green beans, mashed potatoes and gravy, and of course, that...
