  • The Greenhouse is Getting Greener

    Jennifer Ward, FFA Advisor|Sep 28, 2023

In 2001, Cascade High School was at the top of the industry standards with the installation of the greenhouse on campus, with a solid wooden frame and poly panels to draw in adequate sunlight. Couldn't get much better... back in the day. Time for an upgrade! What is going on with the greenhouse? Why is it coming down? What is happening?? Hopefully, this will answer some questions... So many new things that we encounter in the agricultural community that we would like to incorporate into our...

  • Cultural Chlorophyll

    Edward Martin|Sep 28, 2023

If someone asked, “What color are leaves?” I’m sure I would respond, “Green”, while looking at the person as if they were a bit crazy unless they asked about this time of year. But, I recently saw a post that made me realize it was an unwarranted assumption. The real colors of leaves are the beautiful yellows, golds, reds and oranges we see in the fall. The green we see is when the leaves are overwhelmed with the pigment of chlorophyll. Life is like that. We are, from birth, overwhelm...

  • Who Do You Say Jesus Is? – Part 3

    Dave Carroll|Sep 28, 2023

My last Musing ended with the following statement, “There are many documented, non-biblical historical references to the life of Christ, but that must wait until next time! Jesus really lived, died by crucifixion, and was resurrected.” Today we will briefly look at several of the main reinterpretations of the historical Jesus. The first is the “Swoon Theory”. This theory postulates that Jesus survived death on the cross, thus denying the resurrection of Jesus. No resurrection, no atonement for sin, he is not the incarnate Son of God. This st...

  • Ephesians 2:8-9 & 10

    Norm Miller, Montana Christian College|Sep 28, 2023

The letter to the Church in Ephesus is one of the richest in the New Testament. And for many Christians, Eph. 2:8-9 are two favorite verses. “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast." Many-a discussion in Sunday school groups, Bible college classrooms, and seminary coffee shops has ensued about these two verses so rich in theological meaning and personal import regarding salvation. Such emphases on these two verses, however, have all-to-often o...

  • Ulm Volunteer Fire Department Pancake Supper

    Ray Castellanos, Courier Reporter|Sep 28, 2023

Area residents really came out to support the Ulm Volunteer Fire Department's Annual Pancake Supper Saturday evening. The all-you-could eat supper consisted of bacon, sausage, ham, or links, eggs, and of course, pancakes, plus your choice of coffee, tea, orange juice or milk. Seemed like the line was never-ending as people kept coming in throughout the evening. Good food, good conversation among friends and family, and all for a good cause. Thanks for supporting our fire-fighting...

    Sandy Harshaw|Sep 28, 2023

A grand time was had by all. Once again the Ulm Volunteer Fire Department team out did themselves on the pancake supper. It was a steady stream of hungry patrons from 2-8. At times the line was out the door. Everyone had such a great time visiting and catching up with one another. Sometimes we only see our neighbors once a year at this social event. There were lots of deserts to bid on and some household items also, to help raise money for our crew. Its great to see the community and...
