  • Chaos

    Edward Martin|Jun 27, 2024

There is a conceptual place where chaos theory and Newtonian physics collide. I don’t have sufficient education to comment but, it seems to me, Newtonian physics has a strict causality to it that doesn’t conform to life as we experience it. What we can take from such contemplation is the effect even small, random events can have on our lives. Turn a particular corner, either literally or symbolically, and our lives can take a radical turn. What was certain becomes doubtful, what was imp...

  • Respond to the Cross

    Lee Vickers|Jun 27, 2024

As mentioned in the prior segment, Jesus’ shed blood on the Cross provided the solution to sin – the only solution. No one can obey The Law 100% perfectly; no one’s conscience is infallible. Jesus died to provide the only means for remission of sins – freedom from the guilt and enslavement of sin. It is as if the sins were never committed. His sinless blood was shed to wash us clean and to purchase freedom. He did what we could not do: He created the way to reconciliation with God and to escape eternal death. But we must respond. Two others wer...

  • The Ten Commandments, Surely We Are Willing To Try

    Dr. Glenn Mollette|Jun 27, 2024

Governor Jeff Landry of Louisiana recently signed into law requiring the display of the Ten Commandments in Louisiana’s classrooms. This is the first law of its kind in the country since 1980, when a more moderate Supreme Court ruled a similar Kentucky law unconstitutional. The new law gives schools until Jan. 1 to display the Ten Commandments on “a poster or framed document that is at least eleven inches by fourteen inches” in every classroom. The commandments have to be the display’s “central focus” and be “printed in a large, easily readab...

  • Even The Smallest Had Their Role

    Nancy Royan|Jun 27, 2024

Cats were the perfect companions not only in the trenches of WWI, but onboard ship as well. While dogs and horses are often portrayed as wartime workers and companions, cats also played vital roles. It was a cat named “Simon” who won a Dickin Medal, the highest honor for Animal Military Gallantry in Britain. In the military, animal mascots were used to provide friendship and a happy distraction to Canadian soldiers. Various animals such as “Mike” the Saint Bernard, or “Batisse” the goat gave soldiers comfort and affection. Animal mascots wer...
