  • Graduation 2024 - That's A Wrap!

    Ray Castellanos|May 23, 2024

The long-awaited day for the Class of '24 finally came this past Sunday at the North Gym as this year's seniors said a final good-bye to Cascade Public Schools, to begin a new chapter in their lives. Five of these seniors had spent their entire school life here, Badgers since kindergarten! But they will all take with them fond memories and values that can only be learned at a small town school. One wonders, however, what goes on in the seniors' minds as they sit there on the stage, the focus of...

  • Tacos

    Edward Martin|May 23, 2024

My favorite news story of last week was the announcement that a tiny taco stand in Mexico City earned a Michelin star for its excellent food. Chef Arturo Rivera Martinez of Taquería El Califa de León has only four different tacos on the menu and none costs more than $5. The café is only ten feet wide but is a great example of excellence being rewarded. Granted, he had a large city full of hungry people as possible customers, but that doesn’t mean for example, a small town in, perhaps, nort...

  • God Ways are Victorious Ways

    Dave Carroll|May 23, 2024

This coming weekend is supposed to be dedicated to the honoring of, remembering of the soldiers who have died in defense of the country. It is supposed to be a somber time, a time of reflection on sacrifice. For a soldier and their family, to suffer death on the battlefield is truly the ultimate sacrifice. I have had people in my life whose families had lost uncles, fathers, brothers, cousins and friends in World War II, Korea, Vietnam, during special operations in the 1980s-90s, and the endless war on terrorism since 2001. It is for sure a lif...

  • Under Authority, Praying for Leaders

    Norm Miller, Montana Christian College|May 23, 2024

“Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence,” 1 Tim. 2:2. In this single verse, the Holy Spirit inspired Paul to use four of the seven words for prayer found in the New Testament. Although synonymous, each word carries significant meaning. Such praying must therefore be vitally important. Whereas obedience unto God’s word is the requirement for and evide...
