The Town Council met Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 to select from among themselves who would be the president, and who would be the vice-president of the Council, since the resignation last week of Mayor Murry Moore and Council President, Robert "Skip" Reisser left the town without someone to conduct the Council business. The town has to have somebody to run the meetings to do the agenda, or a meeting can't be held. There were about 13 townspeople in attendance. Becca Wood made some opening...
Karen Matteson will soon walk out of the Cascade School library for the last time, closing out 36 years as a school employee. She and her husband first moved to Cascade in 1987. She began teaching elementary school when Jim Donovan was high school principal, Bruce Allen was elementary principal, and John Dallum was superintendent. She worked in the elementary school for 25 years before becoming the K-12 librarian. "The best part about working in a K-12 school has been watching the students grow...
"I'm dreaming of a white... Easter!" It looked and felt like Christmas, but it was really Easter Sunday! The cold, dreary weather and the snow didn't dampen the spirits, though, of everyone who lined up after church services to go after those Easter Eggs. Had they delayed a little more to blow that horn for the start of the Lions Club Easter Egg hunt, the eggs might have been buried under the snow! But blow the horn they did, and just like that, the Railroad Park came alive with screaming,...
5 years ago was the first flight. The time between that flight and the first moon landing was only 66 years. This past year NASA had a helicopter that flew on Mars. That little helicopter had a scrap of canvas from that first Wright brothers plane on it. Imagine what will occur in the next 66 years, in 2090 or, in 122 years, in 2144. We can imagine some things but we’d be wrong about most things. Something we didn’t know just a few years ago was the makeup of other planets and asteroids. Tod...

We estimate that around 300 kids participated with all their cute outfits and baskets, buckets and bags for a quick retrieval of over 4000 eggs. They brought parents, Grandparents, family and friends. The place was packed and it was great to meet new people and see our old friends as well. We were blessed to be able to give away 4...
