  • It's A Little Chilly Out!

    Ray Castellanos|Jan 18, 2024

The season's first winter storm this week brought the coldest weather since late 2022. This blast of bitter cold arctic air surged across the northern Rockies and northern Plains, driving all the way south into Texas and other Southern states. While it may have paralyzed most of the country, it was mostly business as usual in our neck of the woods. Our area had minimal snowfall and our usual high winds, but, except for the cancellation of some athletic events, it was hunker down or bundle up....

  • Weather Postpones Some Basketball Games

Coach Nick Ethridge, Photos by Ray Castellanos|Jan 18, 2024

What was supposed to be a very busy week of Badger basketball turned into a slow one. The low temperatures forced Valier and Power to postpone our weekend contests until later dates. However, the Badgers did see the court earlier in the week before the weather turned. Monday night the Badgers welcomed Belt for a quick JV contest. The game proved to be competitive and a great addition to our schedule. After the 1st quarter the Badgers enjoyed a 9-8 advantage, but we widened the gap with a...

  • Era of Good Feelings

    Edward Martin|Jan 18, 2024

The news has a repetitive theme these days about folks dreading this election season. Even political junkies who thrive on every twist and turn of elections confess to dreading how divisive and vitriolic it will almost certainly be. People are rightfully worried about a return of the violence that occurred in 2020. I’ve attempted to reassure some folks that we’ve gone through rough political waters before and survived but that doesn’t help much. There was a time in our history, known as the ...

  • The Best Emergency Service in the Universe

    Dave Carroll|Jan 18, 2024

Last weekend was a real Montana winter event, wasn’t it? It is amazing to be bundled up and outside when the temperatures are 30 below and the wind is blowing. But, when I do go out in that cold, I am equipped for it. To go out unprepared is to invite disaster. Driving in those conditions will reveal what systems in your car need attention. Extremely cold (and hot days) will let you know if all systems in your car are functioning properly. Good maintenance will ensure you arrive at your destination. If you break down then it’s a call to a fri...

Matthew 6:14 For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly father will also forgive you. What do you do to cure yourself when you are physically ill? When you are sick, you will be told by your doctor to take your medication so that you can feel better. What if you don’t feel better? You need to keep taking your medication until you do feel better...Forgiveness cleanses the palate of your soul, helps to heal the deepest emotions, and it activates the Holy Spirit to redeem you from your misery if you allow Him to h...

  • Important Information About Your Drinking Water

    Town of Cascade|Jan 18, 2024

Our water system is currently experiencing an odor with an unknown cause. A new well source was placed into production and we believe that to be the culprit. We immediately shut down this new source. As we investigate the issue, there may still be some of that water in the system causing odor issues. This Health Advisory is precautionary as we continue to investigate. Although we are proactively trying to reduce consumer impacts by flushing water, the extreme cold has hindered our efforts. As the temperatures increase this week, we will...
