Lucy Wilson Pettapiece was born March 9, 1926 in Sebring, Florida, One of the four children of Ruth (Turner) Wilson and John E. Wilson. Lucy grew up in the south, Georgia and Florida, moving many times to accommodate her father's job as a Civilian Conservation Corp manager.
