    LINCOLN, Nebraska (4/2/2024) - Town of Cascade was named a 2023 Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation to honor its commitment to effective urban forest management.     Augustus Wedsworth, benefactor of the Wedsworth Estate, was born October 1, 1842, in Dupage County, Illinois. He came to Cascade County in 1875 to work in the dairy business at Lepley Creek, selling dairy products to the Army. He was very successful, and in 1881, took up a homestead and later purchased several ranches in Chesnut Valley. He sold his interests in farming and ranching in 1910, when he moved to Cascade.
